i drew a self portrait today. it's been awhile since i picked up a pencil and actually set out to draw something, rather than nothing at all. the results were somewhat better than i expected; i suspect that my increased doodling has kept what little skill i once had from atrophying completely. the picture itself is as you would expect one of my drawings to be. it is sketchy, with only basic elements intact. it creates an overall mood, rather than a photorealistic representation. not to say that it is cartoonish...but it is minimalistic. the contrast of lights and darks is not terribly high...but it seems to be constructed of grays, as opposed to whites and blacks.

i find it interesting how the style of drawing represents the artist quite well.
